why eat smart?

Through intensive research the team discovered that there was an opportunity to improve meal times at public elementary schools. The current meals were low in nutritional value and the schools were offering unhealthy vending machine snack options.

Visualizing The Journey

final offerings

Based on the research findings, the team created a package that could be sold to public elementary schools. The package included a healthy weekly lunch menu, take-home recipes cards to include and educate parents, a T.V. reel to be played in the cafeteria, posters and decals to be hung in the cafeteria and a card game which would reward students for healthy food choices while educated them on the importance of nutrition.

The team realized early on that they needed a memorable, kid friendly mascot to really drive the force so they created Captain Carl, a health conscious super hero who rewards healthy choices and activity! Captain Carl was prototyped at a local elementary school and found to be loved by students grades K-5th.
